According to a new report produced through the Global Initiative on out-of-school children in the world, two million children in South Sudan are not receiving an education – representing one of the highest rates of out-of-school children in the world. The situation is especially alarming since women and girls in South Sudan are more likely to die during childbirth than complete primary education.

God in His grace has put His Voice Global in a position to help with the education of those He has placed in our care in Yei, South Sudan. Working in conjunction with our partners at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) in Yei, we urgently need to construct primary and secondary school classrooms so our children, and children in the community, can attend school  inside the walls of the main EPC compound.

The Nehemiah secondary school is currently located outside of the EPC school compound on the outskirts of the city of Yei, South Sudan. The current peace accord that is in place has provided an opportunity to relocate the Nehemiah school students so that they can attend classes inside the EPC compound, alongside the younger students already studying there.

This is important because even though the national peace agreement has been signed, Yei River State is still a volatile place, and there is still risk for the students around Yei. Now is the time to act!

Construction has already begun on the eight (8) classrooms that are needed on the EPC campus. When completed, this will provide 4 classes for the secondary school and 4 new classes for the primary school. These facilities will also help with financial self-sustainability for the schools because students from the community will pay school fees to attend.

Our 2019 goal is to raise $151,200 to pay for the completion of the classrooms.
