James 1:27 is a scripture that we love here at His Voice. Is says this, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”
Of course we love it, it speaks directly to who we are and what we do as an organization, but the second part of it is what we strive for. To be unstained from the world. Sometimes, I know I can get caught up in the things of this world, and I can truly let them affect me. Recently Andrew and I made the move to Dallas, TX. We decided to downsize, rent smaller and stick with the one car we share, “Live a little more simply”.
So, we had a huge two day moving sale and made $3,000 dollars. Who knew we had that much stuff to get rid of?
There is something to be said for how we obtain so much because we “need” it.
I think there is a movement of the Holy Spirit sweeping in the hearts of Christians right now that says, “To be full, all you need is Me.”
The reaction many are having to this is, “Let’s get rid of our stuff!” I by no means think this is the only answer, but I do know that just because we live in this world does not give us right to be consumed by it.
Simply full was birthed as a basic idea and has begun to blossom for me. “Simply Full” is a way to make life more simple, or to do “greater things” in a more simple way, while helping others have life to the fullest.
Here are some great ways to live out James 1:27 right now!
Set a date to have a garage sale.
Step out of your comfort zone and meet your neighbors. Go door to door and ask them to join you in a garage sale that benefits orphans.
Remember $1,800 earns us one spot for generations to come.
You will have the opportunity to share not only with your neighbors, but with everyone who shops, what His Voice is doing and why it is called His Voice…and ultimately you will be living out the Gospel and having opportunity to share!
You can set up signs, hand out cards, make cupcakes…whatever you want to draw a crowd to “Simply Full” A sale that makes our longing to have a more simple life and to give a more full life to someone else possible.
Did you know Orphan Sunday is November 6th. While we want our churches to partner with us and highlight what we are doing on Nov. 6th, we believe that YOU are the church. So here are some ways that YOU can do something on Orphan Sunday…SIMPLE THINGS.

What are your friends into:: Games, movies, video games? Host a Game night where people pay to play. Create a bracket system for a video game tourney, have friends buy their spot. Host a movie night, cook a meal, and have friends pay at the door. Play with the season, I am sure there is gonna be a football game on, host a bash and have folks donate at the door. What ever you do that day, do it for the Orphans! A simple way to ask people to donate is as easy as you doing the food and having friends bring the cash they would have spent on their Sunday dinner!
Take a few minutes between rounds or at half time and show our new video and share about who His Voice Global is and what we do! We can even make you a simple video of us talking that caters to your crowd and send it to you!
