Arise!
The Shine Program continues to be one of the most impactful parts of our ministry in East Africa. In northern Uganda alone, the Shine Program serves over 1600 people by providing integrative care to those with identified needs. This care includes the provision of food, clean water, and medical help for just $.36 per day per person. In addition, housing needs are addressed in conjunction with help from community members who provide labor and brick manufacturing help. Last year alone 20 houses were constructed along with 18 new thatched roof additions. After an area survey was conducted, it was discovered that a large part of the population in the area around the Arise Center was composed of handicapped people. Out of that reality came the Shine ministry of providing physical therapy and handicapped assistance to those in need.
We are so grateful for the leadership of this program by our full-time missionaries on the ground in Uganda and for our faithful donors who support them and this important ministry.

As of 2024, Arise began welcoming guests in a new capacity. A mutually beneficial experience for HVG and our visiting partners, Arise Center is perfectly positioned to be the epicenter of all short-term trip activities. We are now able to host teams with overnight accommodations, gathering spaces, meals, and fun activities as they are immersed in the programs of HVG.
Being based at Arise has offered a beautiful, cohesive experience, and an atmosphere we can shape to meet the needs of each team. Hosting teams in the cottages on property has allowed for intimate spaces for processing the day’s experiences and team debrief times. It also provides a unique opportunity for direct interaction with the Arise and Shine staff for introductions and further understanding of program work.
Our hope is to build more accommodations and increase capacity. Our teams are currently capped based on current spacing in the 2 cabins. We have limited availability and encourage you to give toward Arise to help us make room for more!
Teams staying on property also helps boost Arise revenue, directly feeding back into the community and HVG programs. Bring your church team to experience the beauty of the Arise property while serving God’s people in East Africa.
We’re Coming to Midland!
We are looking forward to our annual time of gathering at Stonegate Fellowship in Midland! This year, the event will be held on Thursday, October 23rd. Dinner will be provided, and we are excited to be a part of a Stonegate hosted event called "An Evening in Africa".

Giving Tuesday is Coming!
Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that has gained momentum since its introduction in 2012, and it provides a targeted day to remember your favorite non-profit ministries.
