Summertime Update!
Thanks to partners like you, we're on track to impact 20,000 people this year through our four on-going programs, Arise, Shine, Thrive, and Alive. Amber Burger, Co-Founder and Communications Director for HVG, was on the May team to Uganda and had an extraordinary encounter with one of our Shine friends, Agnes.
Agnes has been with our Shine Program for a few years, but spent the majority of that time disabled by pain and an increasingly worsening disease in her left leg that characterized elephantiasis. Agnes spent her days seated with her leg outstretched, covered and unable to function because of the pain. Doctors were unable to find treatment and relief for Agnes, so in June 2024, HVG took Agnes to the hospital and the decision to amputate was made.
"Although the team on the ground in Uganda had kept the US staff updated on Agnes’ recovery and status, when I saw her, I couldn’t believe it was her!” Amber said about seeing Agnes for the first time post-amputation.
Agnes recovered from the surgery very well. She is back to living a full life in and with her community, even leading a weekly Bible listening group and hosting a Trauma Healing group at her home. She is getting around with crutches, and she’s received a wheelchair from the Shine Program as well. “Her face shined!” Amber said, still in awe of Agnes’ transformation.
Season for Teams!
We’ve already had 5 teams travel with His Voice Global in 2025 to see what God is doing on the ground in Africa! May and June Uganda teams were an amazing success and the July team is on the last leg of their return trip home. We are anxious to hear all that they experienced. Be praying for travel mercies for them as they return home.
